Except one game Intels Core i7 – 965 3.2 GHz was able to convince us in every single benchmark or game. Through the whole span the performance was higher. But as we expected Nehalem couldn’t show it’s real potential and therefore we all need to stay patient for some time until the majority of the game- and software insdustry puts software on the market that can take advantage of eight or more threads. With the synthetic benchmark 3DMarkVantage you can see what Nehalem is able to because in this case Futuremark spreads the load to every single of Nehalems eight threads. This explains the huge performance gap between Core i7 – 965 and Core 2 Q9650. Read all @ Ocaholic.ch

Looks like the low-cost quad-core processors market has changed significantly. Prices went down, new models came out. However, as we have just seen from our new article, there is hardly anything new we could advise you at this point. One of the best choices among low-cost quad-core processors is still the old 65nm Core 2 Quad Q6600. Intel has dropped its price so significantly lately that is remains in the spotlight despite its age and relatively high power consumption. Especially since in some applications such as 3D games, for instance, it manages to perform as fast as a more expensive Core 2 Quad Q9300 thanks to large L2 cache. Its overclocking potential is also pretty encouraging. It doesn’t require a specific mainboard: you can almost always push its frequency 1.5 times up with just an efficient cooler. The conclusion on the AMD Phenom X4 9950 comes to us after the test is not really easy, because it shows on the one hand, fairly good results, but the handling of the processor is not always easy.  Probably the biggest problem is the compatibility above all in relation to motherboards since. Here are numerous problems, so before you buy should investigate thoroughly. With a little luck we immediately caught the correct constellation of CPU, motherboard and memory that can be easily operate it. In our tests showed the whole, however, not so simple. It seems particularly with respect to the motherboard support appropriate that one from the start after a Phenom 9950 with 125-watt TDP identifier. AMD Phenom X4 9950 @ HT4U.net
