Review [ENG]: OCZ Dominatrix gaming mouse
Darco | November 11, 2008I always think that buying a mouse is probably one or the more personal hardware choices anyone will make - After all, we all have hands of different shapes and sizes, and we all doubtless have a slightly different way of using input devices. This makes giving out recommendations for parts such as this rather a tricky process, especially given that it’s usually hard to get the opportunity to “try before you buy” with these things.
Having said that, I’ll do my best to outline my own thoughts on OCZ’s Dominatrix here, and to be honest it includes what I’d call an excellent feature set considering its £25 price including VAT in the UK. For starters, the ability to weigh the mouse down with “ballast” is an excellent addition to the part, as there’s nothing worse than having a mouse that’s too heavy or too light sliding around your desk, and the Dominatrix make getting the initial “feel” of the mouse simple by letting you add weights and distribute them across the tail-end of the mouse as you see fit. The inclusion of DPI and profile selection buttons on the mouse is also a good one, with the former in particular proving to be most useful when switching between applications which may be more comfortable with a different DPI setting from what you were doing previously. This is followed through by the simple but effective nature of the bundled software, making customising buttons five and six with anything from a simple command to a complex macro simplicity itself, while giving you an even wider range of DPI settings to play with that can be configured individually for both the X and Y axis. Throw in the four-way scroll wheel that the Dominatrix features and I can’t think of much to complain about in this discipline. OCZ Dominatrix @ Elite Bastards
